To visit or not to visit?
We are in and out of Long-Term Care homes, Retirement Homes, Hospitals, and individual homes in the community with seniors. We see the need for many aging adults to have companionship or wellness visits of some kind. Loneliness and outside stimulation can be very...
Clutter and Mental Health
Over the past four years, I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact that clutter can have on individuals’ lives. Clutter creeps in and takes over our spaces and silently impacts our mental well-being. Here are a few ways a clutter-free environment can promote...

Getting your mindset ready to Downsize/Right-Size
Most of us know there will come a day when we need to downsize, whether out of necessity or to lessen the burden on our loved ones. Downsizing is often called ‘right-sizing’ which has a less negative connotation and helps to develop the right mindset. Once we have taken the first step, each one thereafter can and often does become just that little bit easier.
Why do Professional Organizers get the job done quickly and efficiently?
A professional organizer is someone who has special skills, knowledge and tools to turn any home from cluttered to efficient space. Aside from being organized, their focus is to help keep you on track and simplify the process. They receive specialized training, ongoing education and peer mentoring to be experts. They typically belong to an organization that has a Code of Conduct to follow.
Are you considering aging at home?
This is a common theme as we move forward with an aging population. The good news is that with the right support and planning that is exactly what many older adults are already doing successfully. The new terminology for staying in your own home as you get older is called “aging in place.”
Hey is this you? Sandwich Generation
Navigating resources for older adults and helping them with anything they may need support with can be a daunting journey. ‘The ‘sandwich generation’ is burning the candle at both ends, managing the stress of navigating the health care system with the changing needs of an aging parent, while keeping an eye on their own children, according to the Kensington Health Foundation.
Decluttering for the Holidays
Working in so many client homes I have a first-hand view of the large quantity of items that so many of us have in our homes that do not get used. The pre-holiday season is a great time to consider doing some editing.
Seniors Caring for Seniors
Start early by having meaningful conversations long before you need to discuss these issues. Adult children might want to start talking to their parents about caregiving when they reach the age of 70. Ask all those tough questions, it may not be an easy conversation, but it is better to start early versus waiting for a crisis to occur.
